Growing Talent Award Ceremony – 14 August 2014

What a day it turned out to be!


The sun was bright and shinning at More London.

The award was the first for Growing Talent and celebrated the achievements of the pioneer four – Comfort, Sophia, Jason & Holly from the pilot programme in March this year – and the latest Growing Talent Associates – Jordan, Caroline, Chris, Ant, Niro, Sholape, Dean, Mikele, James, Samik – sadly Dan did not complete.

Pedro, Ria and the hospitality team laid on an amazing event.  On arrival guests enjoyed tea, coffee, sparkling and still water, sodas and mocktails including Cranberry Crush, Fresh Lemonade Crush and Strawberry & Elderflower Crush.  Homebaked Ginger Nuts and Chocolate Chip Cookies gave energy for a nail biting start for us speakers!


Whilst arriving guests were networking with employers, a slideshow of photos from every stage of both Growing Talent programmes were shown.  Those dodgy face pulling were back to haunt them!  Wonder by Emilie Sande – chosen by the Associates – signalled the start of the formal proceedings.

Launching the event was Jon B who gave a good flavour of how Growing Talent came about before passing over to me to describe just how tough it is to get onto Growing Talent let alone complete it.  I also outlined the format – described in detail under the Growing Talent page.  Sharon of Harrow Green and Jamie of Pertemps followed me to explain their experiences and what they personally thought of the programme.  Next up was Jo and Hazel from JCP explaining why they had introduced flexibilities to enable the programme to run.  Next to speak were Comfort and Chris who gave an inspirational view of their experience.


Participating employers who all showcased their logos at the event included Harrow Green, Iron Mountain, Pertemps Professional, Pertemps IT, Red Personnel, SSR Personnel, Mitie Total Document Solutions, Honeywell, UpTownOil & Portico


Jon ended the event by inviting employers in the audience to take away the information sheets.


Networking followed accompanied by more excellent nibbles from Pedro and the team including…

Needless to say I was so busy talking, I missed most of this apart from the most amazing chocolate brownie!


The film crew were great – very patient!  As were the Growing Talent Associates who endured a lot of standing around.  Unfortunately we ran over time wise and had to relocate to another room.  What a room!
