To me, they are the principles of doing what you say you will do. Reliable. Trusted. “My word is by bond”!
Is this true for everyone?
What we see going on around us, doesn’t seem these qualities are quite so important anymore.
Does that matter?
For me, yes. Lack of integrity and honour is expected in politics, but what about in business?
I was looking forward to seeing the American group, Journey in November on their 50th year European tour. My fav song is Don’t Stop Believing – especially with the lead singer, Arnel’s, back story. Then news arrived they cancelled their European tour. Illness? Death? No, legal infighting. Well, it happens, right? No! If you say you are going to do something, you do it. What’s especially infuriating is despite their legal friction, Journey are still touring in USA! A huge let down for fans across Europe and the businesses and specialists who would have benefited.
But what a joy over this Bank Holiday! I went to see Chapel Hart, a country rock trio on a three-date tour of the UK at a church in Euston. Integrity oozed as they sang accompanied by a pianist sharing stories of their childhood, their struggle to perform without the financial support of being signed to a record company, dancing with the fans and singing acapella too. Stand out for me was a rendition of Don’t Stop Believing by Journey!
What a contrast between these two bands. Integrity and honour cost nothing.
