It’s live! – International Women’s Day – Hidden Credits – Mayor of London

This week has been particularly intense and mixed-up – well the last year or so has!

I attended an Employment Tribunal on Monday, gave an information session to 15 JobCentre Plus managers on Tuesday, then was asked to be part of Women in Business inspiring teenagers at an all girls high school yesterday and then today received notification that my name was amongst the 100 selected for the Mayor of London’s Hidden Credit campaign.

It’s particularly poignant for me as Shennell nominated me.  She was on Growing Talent a number of years ago and has had many things to deal with since – which she’s done with such grace and integrity.

My message to everyone trying to make a difference to others is keep going.  Even though you may find the odd person who wants to diss what you do, many more are so grateful you do what you do.

I for one will keep going.  Will you?

#BehindEveryGreatCity #HiddenCredits

What an honour – #HiddenCredits

Like many people working to empower others to be the best version of themselves, I have never thought of myself as doing something extraordinary or inspirational.

When someone I’ve been encouraging told me they had nominated me for the Mayor of London’s Hidden Credits gallery to celebrate extraordinary women making a difference in London as part of the #BehindEveryGreatCity campaign to mark 100 years since women secured the vote, I thought little of it.  Until I received the email below.

Now I’m reflecting and affirming just how much I do try to do.  I’m even starting to believe I am inspirational to some who go on to make a real difference to their lives.  Knowing I do make a positive difference to some is the most empowering feeling.

But why do we find self worth so hard?  I know I will do my best to actively ‘pat myself on the back’ every now and then.  We should all take time to do this.  It doesn’t matter where we are, what issues we are dealing with, getting through each day and learning from it is the important thing.

Let’s all try to spread the affirmation and empowering ‘dust’ more than we maybe do.

Dear Jane,

Women are behind some of the greatest achievements and discoveries in London and we want to recognise this. So, we’re releasing an online gallery of all the incredible women Londoners have put forward for our Hidden Credits series – and this includes you!

If you have any questions around this campaign and your feature, please don’t hesitate to ask us.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

The City Hall team
